A 2026 sourcing-side comparison of the leading Chinese Android tablet OEM/ODM factories. We focus on the six factors that actually decide procurement outcomes: factory model, MOQ, customization depth, certifications, lead time, and retail-channel conflict (the most-missed factor).
Six factors that matter
- Factory model. Is the supplier a direct factory, or a trading company / retail brand with a side OEM business? Direct factories give you better pricing, better escalation paths, and verifiable BSCI / ISO audits.
- MOQ. Trial programs often need under 200 units. Many “OEM” suppliers in China have a hidden 500-unit minimum and won't admit it until the spec is locked.
- Customization depth. “OEM” can mean anything from “swap the logo” to “build a new shell with your CPU, ports, and firmware.” Ask for specifics: can they change RAM SKU? Add an RJ45? Lock the Android version?
- Certifications. Your destination market dictates this. US needs FCC + UL on enterprise. EU needs CE + RoHS + UKCA. Kids markets need EN71 + CPC + ASTM. India needs BIS. Saudi needs SASO.
- Lead time. Sample lead time and mass-production lead time differ. Ask both. New mold tooling adds 15–25 days on top.
- Retail-channel conflict. If your supplier has its own retail brand on Amazon, you are eventually competing with them. Ask whether they sell finished tablets under their own name to end consumers.
